Could Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson be busier right now? Known for his role as a wrestler and for starring in blockbuster films around the world, Johnson has long since become an inveterate entrepreneur. Despite his busy schedule, he has also built his business empire over the years.
From his Teremana Tequila brand and his company, Seven Bucks Productions, to owning the XFL football league (just to name a few), Johnson continues to reach new heights within his hard-fought career. Here’s a list of his major business ventures.
The Rock and his many businesses
XFL
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson acquired the XFL back in 2020 for reportedly $15 million. The XFL enjoyed minor success before canceling the rest of the season in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It garnered decent ratings and had deals with ESPN and Fox.
However, the football league suspended operations and laid off all of its employees on April 10. Three days later, it filed for bankruptcy. But now the XFL has merged with the USFL to form the UFL. The newly revamped league is set to kick off in late March. Dwayne Johnson, his ex-wife Dany Garcia, and Gerry Cardinale of RedBird Capital were the owners of the XFL, who now work along with USFL owners Fox Sports and ESPN.
Tequila Teremana
Tequila Teremana, launched in 2020, is one of the latest entries in the saturated celebrity spirits sector. The brand defines itself as an ‘ultra-premium’ drink made in a small Mexican town. Every step of their tequila-making process is meticulously done to produce a delicious product.
Johnson, who adopted the character of the ‘People’s Champion, strived to do the same in real life. That’s why, when he created the beverage brand before the pandemic, the Hollywood star spent time in Mexico with the men and women who worked hard to make the drink, from the agave fields to the barrels. The Brahma Bulls’ love for Mexico and its native liquor intensified after a trip in 2007 to promote his film “The Game Plan”.
ZOA energy
In 2021, Johnson launched ZOA Energy alongside his fellow co-founders, which include his close friends, Chief Innovation Officer Dave Rienzi, and Chief Visionary Officer Dany Garcia. The brand creates products that are NSF-certified for sports, ensuring that products under this very rare certification meet a strict set of standards for the protection of public health.
Johnson says it’s the trust that exists between ZOA and its consumers that makes this NSF certification that much more important, providing additional peace of mind to ZOA’s growing customer base. The brand is providing products such as ZOA Energy Drink and Beyond Water Vitamin right now.
Seven Bucks Productions
Co-created and founded by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Dany Garcia, Seven Bucks Productions is a production company involved in various platforms and media and creating original releases for television, film, and digital networks. The name of the company refers to the amount of money the Brahma Bull had in his pocket after being released from the Canadian Football League in 1995. After that, he signed with the World Wrestling Federation and carved out enormous success.
So far, the company has produced a variety of projects, some directly related to Johnson’s filmography. These films have grossed $4.6 billion at the box office so far.
Well, it sure looks like the Rock has found success even in the realm of business, apart from being a legend in the ring and a very successful Hollywood icon. He is the man with the Midas touch. What do you think of his ventures? Did the Rock inspire you too? Let us know in the comments.
