It’s hard to imagine how thousands of people can leave their lifelong puppy behind; especially if it’s someone as sweet as Romeo.
The little guy had spent many years with an absolutely ungrateful family, who one day decided they just didn’t want him anymore.
They gave him to a friend but after a while they left him in a crowded shelter where his life was in great danger of being euthanized.
The puppy lives in New York City in the United States.

For Romeo this had been too much. As soon as he arrived at the shelter, the sad little dog did nothing but look around a corner and refused to make the slightest move.
There were so many noises, smells and he seemed to sense that no one wanted to take care of him.
This situation is very painful for any dog, but even more so for those who, like Romeo, are used to having a home and a family. The dogs do nothing but wonder why they have not been saved again.
And the worst of all, is that deep in their hearts, they are convinced that they are to blame for the fact that their family has suddenly stopped loving them. No matter how hard they think, they can’t understand what they did so wrong.
“For two days he refused to lift his head from the corner. He didn’t move a muscle in all those hours,” the shelter said.
His fate could be very sad if someone didn’t manage to bring him back to his happy self.

Luckily, Second Chance Rescue NYC Dogs arrived in time. As soon as they saw how depressed this sweet little dog was, they knew they had to get him out of the shelter as quickly as possible.
After all, he was a pit bull mix and that made his chances of being euthanized very high. Romeo’s spirits were only dropping, so they found him a temporary home. The sweet little dog deserved to feel the warmth of a family again.
“He is extremely friendly and happy. He needs to be around a lot of people to feel good.”
His former family wasn’t able to realize the being of light he decided to leave behind

Days after he returned to make a life with a new family, his smile reappeared.
It was clear that he was a very special little dog with a lot of love to give.
He did not like to feel lonely at all and loved to play and give thousands of kisses to everyone who crossed his path.
Unfortunately, he could not stay there for long. He urgently needed to find the forever home he so deserved.
Romeo was left to fend for himself at the age of seven.

And that’s just what he did. The organization worked tirelessly to find the perfect place for Romeo.
He now has owners who love animals madly and he also has a little doggy sister. They spend their days playing and getting into mischief together.
Romeo’s sister is named Porscha.

Best of all, cute Romeo never felt depressed again and his days of staring at the corner of a shelter are but a thing of the past.
However, it’s not fair that this sweet creature had to go through so much suffering and had his heart broken like that, for no reason at all. When will we understand the responsibility of having a pet, they are not objects to be taken away and put away at our whim.
We are moved by the wonderful change that Romeo’s life has taken. All dogs deserve a second chance and a thousand opportunities to give them back joy and hope.
