An elderly husky puppy and a duckling are writing their own story of unconditional love and friendship. What happens between the two is so amazing and touching, that they are already making headlines and are the most famous people in the small town where they live.

We are already tired of reading bad news in the animal world; but, every now and then we want to read something nice about our friends, the animals. Today we bring you a piece of news that will definitely bring a huge smile to your face.

The puppy and the duckling have become more than inseparable.

If we told you that a dog and a duck are the best friends in the world, would you believe us, you would think that we have taken it out of some cartoon, but no, even if it seems very unlikely, Max and Quackers are the best friends in the world.

They are Max, a 12-year-old husky, and Quackers, a 4-year-old duck, who have caused a stir in the news and on the Internet for their unlikely friendship.

They can do absolutely nothing without each other.

Max was adopted when he was just 5 years old, by Patrick and Kristen Riley, from a small town in Minnesota, USA.

He was a very friendly husky and had his best friend, Sasha, another husky; eventually Sasha passed away leaving the friendly Max alone and devastated.

But fate would soon mend his broken heart

Patrick and Kristen decided to adopt someone new into the family to keep Max company; so they adopted the most unlikely companion for a dog, Quackers, the duck.

Unlikely but not impossible, Max took an immediate liking to his new white-feathered friend.

One day, Patrick let the two take a walk along Highway 28 and from that moment on they became inseparable.

It is worth mentioning that with the family living in Strout, a town of just 25 residents, it is quite safe to allow the friends to roam free on the street. All the neighbors are very respectful of the animals, and they are especially so with Max and Quackers, as they know their beautiful and exemplary friendship

“Max would sit next to Quackers’ feathers all the time, and they bonded that way… Since we let them out, they’ve never been separated,” Patrick said. “They sleep together, eat together, drink together, go for walks together… Everything together,” Kristen added.

This couple of friends take long walks on the highway and because of how beautiful it is to see the two of them together, they create a lot of traffic because of the cars that stop to watch them, take a picture and say “hi”.

Rain, shine or lightning, the couple can be seen on the avenue as if they were a congratulatory stamp waiting for everyone who passes by to brighten their day.

Good morning, neighbor!

Everyone in town feels more than lucky to be the neighbors of these great friends.

“Sometimes on my way home, I really hope they’re there because they’re too precious to look at,” said neighbor Alisa Godejahn.

This is proof that no matter what species the animals are, they will always have something in common that will bind them together in a beautiful and lasting friendship. Hopefully we humans will take their example when it comes to bonding and tolerance.
