For a long time an adorable little dog wandered from one place to another waiting for her destiny to change. Unfortunately, there are many abandoned and homeless dogs with a story full of pain, often because they fall into the wrong hands.

Lakita, our brave protagonist is an example of this. A pitbull who in the midst of her agony decided to curl up in a mountain of garbage near the porch of a house.

Her condition was really deplorable, she smelled bad, her look reflected an infinite sadness, she was so thin that you could notice her ribs. At first glance, she seemed to be losing the battle.

Fortunately, she was spotted by a woman who did not hesitate to ask for help to the rescuers who soon arrived on the scene. One of the rescuers named Tracy commented on the matter:

“Oh, she smells like she’s rotting from the inside out.”

At the heartbreaking scene the rescuers could not help but be moved, they wondered if she had ever been loved. How could anyone allow such a noble being to suffer so much?

As vulnerable as she was, Lakita managed to stand up, it was as if she recognized that she was finally with the right people, that everyone was there to help her.

Something in her changed since she accepted the first caress, it may have been the first in a long time, or the first in her whole life. The first gesture of love that ended up changing her destiny.

The rescuers took the puppy to a veterinary clinic where they performed all the necessary tests, and also informed animal control in case someone was looking for her.

This was not the case, so Tracy ended up taking her home where she was given all the care she needed to recover. She received a refreshing bath, small portions of food high in fiber and nutrients and lots and lots of love from her foster mom.

It only took a week at Tracy’s house for Lakita to make big changes, in just a few days she gained weight quickly, her coat had completely transformed, now it looked shiny and soft, and the most beautiful thing was that her sad and empty look was a thing of the past.

Her two little eyes gradually transformed into beautiful stars that lit up every corner of her new foster home.

The best of all was to see her regain strength and confidence, she loves to play, she looked happy enjoying this new opportunity she was being given. Now that she was completely healthy, the only thing left to do was to find her a permanent home.

Her caregivers took adorable pictures of her on Christmas Eve and shared them online, Lakita posed with an adorable tutu, it didn’t take long for the internet users to melt in front of such tenderness.

Sebastian and Ashtyn became Lakita’s adoptive parents. Now this adorable ball of fur spends her days enjoying all the love and fun offered to her by the couple’s three children, who are the happiest to have such a beautiful furry little girl as their main accomplice and companion in mischief.

We love to know that this beautiful doggy got the happy ending she deserves. Like Lakita, many dogs get to enjoy the love of a real family thanks to wonderful beings willing to give second chances.
