The initiative of a shelter to promote the adoption of a lonely puppy ended in a huge failure that broke his heart.
The furry dog’s name is Luke and he has been living in one of the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home shelters in London for more than 200 days, so today we present his story.
The puppy organized a party to make himself known, but no one attended.

According to the volunteers at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, animals that come into their possession take only about 35 days at most before they are rehomed. But as bad luck would have it, this was not the case for Luke.
That was the main reason why Luke’s caretakers at the shelter wanted to organize a party on February 14, so that people could meet him.
What better way to celebrate that day than by meeting a possible loyal companion who will be with you forever?

With this purpose, the volunteers gathered some decorative objects for the party in which they supposed many people would arrive, even if only to meet him and spend a fun time next to the puppy; unfortunately this did not happen.
Nobody came to the invitation made by the shelter on its Facebook account and other social networks.

The saddest thing is that the puppy was left excited and with new clothes during the most beautiful day of the year.
“Valentine’s Day is a time to show your appreciation for those you care about, so it’s heartbreaking to know that Luke spent the day with no one to love…,” they wrote in the announcement.

Sadly, the little dog did not receive a visit from anyone interested, although that did not stop him from celebrating this special occasion. His caregivers were in charge of comforting him, but the truth is that they hope to find a loving family soon to cheer up this great boy.
The puppy is just asking for a chance to win someone’s heart.

Although the puppy is quite playful, the volunteers think that Luke’s shy personality keeps him from progressing. He is especially closed off with other animals.
“Despite being a big dog, Luke is actually a big softy and enjoys nothing more than cuddling up next to his favorite people and a stuffed animal,” expressed Michelle Bevan, shelter manager.

The overflowing happiness in some environments can be overwhelming for the little dog, which is why the shelter is hoping to find him a family with quiet, pet-free habits. Maybe later Luke’s parents could get another puppy, but not before Luke adapts to the space.
The shelter also commented that Luke’s family will have to be understanding and responsible, since the puppy has some skin problems and therefore it is necessary that he attends his medical check-ups religiously.

Although the matter may intimidate potential candidates, the truth is that the puppy has a lot of love to give and has already waited too long for a chance.
“Luke may have some quirks, but he really has a lot of love to offer the right person,” she said.

Although Luke didn’t get the February 14 he was hoping for, he can have the future he deserves and that’s why his rescuers are working hard to find the right family for this big boy soon. The puppy has already spent many days in the shelter and that is why everyone is worried about his situation.
