The dog was born with a rare congenital condition called “cyclopia” which causes them to have only one eye in the middle of their forehead. According to experts, cyclopia is a rare birth defect that occurs when the front of the brain does not join the right and left hemispheres.
The owner, Amie de Martin, told local publication Boracay News Network that the one-eyed animal died immediately seconds after birth. ” He died, he didn’t even have a nose ,” De Martin said. Instead, the dog had two mouths, but insufficiently developed, from which two tongues protruded. However, the puppy’s mother, Pipay, is healthy and has no problem.
According to the vet, when the mother bitch was pregnant, she could have eaten toxins that caused the condition of the fetus. The puppy’s remains, scheduled to be injected with formalin, will be kept in a jar following de Martin’s decision to keep the puppy’s body as a family memento.
