The cat, named Paws, has a particularly large number of toes due to a deformity of the extra toe.
Paws, a cat with 28 toes, broke the old Guinness World Record set in 2002 for the cat with the most toes, UPI reported on February 9. Paws’ owner is Jeanne Martin, living in Northfield, Minnesota, USA.
Cats usually have 18 toes, each front paw has 5 toe and each hind paw has 4 toes. However, Paws has a particularly high number of toes due to a deformity of the toes, also known as polydactyl. The cat was brought back from the maple syrup farm by Walter Nachtigall, the mate of Martin’s daughter.

“In the past, Paws loved when I let him sit on my lap and stroke his stomach. He felt safe. So when he gave birth, he brought them back to my farm and hid them in the Studebaker truck that I had. used for work,” Nachtigall shared.
The unusually wide feet help Paws balance well on extremely narrow surfaces, says Martin. When she took him to the vet to have his nails trimmed, she always reminded them to do all 28 toes. The doctors also did not charge extra for the care of Paws, even though Martin suggested it.
