A little dog has managed to run free after being freed from a heavy chain that for years limited her movements. Although for some people tying dogs is the most convenient thing to do, the truth is that this can cause them great injuries.

Especially those chains that are made of metallic material, their weight can vary according to their size and thickness. If they are not used correctly, they will inevitably end up causing injuries.

And besides, freedom is a right that no animal should lose, leashes or chains for dogs are designed to ensure their safety and that of the people around them during walks. But never to leave them immobile for a long time.

Perrita is happy to be freed from the heavy chain she carried for years.

This is what happened to the protagonist of this case, her owner abandoned her in an old field without any consideration. The dog had a heavy metal chain tied around her neck, although it was loose, the weight did not allow her to move around calmly.

Fortunately, a group of volunteers from Stray Rescue of St. Louie found out about her situation and quickly came to her rescue.

Due to the weight of the chain, she was unable to perform canine activities.

Upon arrival, the dog seemed curious to see new faces, however, the heavy chain prevented her from running towards her rescuers, so she had no choice but to approach them, walking slowly and with great difficulty.

The poor dog was taking small steps while dragging the whole chain along the ground.

When a volunteer tried to approach her she started barking at her, they were complete strangers to her, she still did not recognize that they only wanted to help her, so she barked as a defense mechanism.

It is not known how long she had to carry the chain, but her neck was very sore from the pressure it was putting on her.

Little by little the volunteer gained the dog’s trust, gave her some treats that ended up pleasing her tummy and were the direct bridge for the woman to approach her.

After all, treats are always the best option when it comes to winning over a furry friend. She carefully picked up the dog and carried her to the car to take her to the shelter.

The dog was very dirty and hungry, the neck area was the most injured.

Upon arrival at the shelter, another volunteer put the dog down while the woman carried the chain. For a long time the dog was carrying much more weight than she could, but fortunately, all that suffering would be a thing of the past.

For her rescuers, it was really heartbreaking to see the dog so distressed, they did not understand how someone could hurt such a helpless being so much.

She was finally released and her eyes took on a special glow.

Things would change for this adorable little furry dog, for the first time she would experience furry activities, run, play, sleep peacefully, and especially feel loved.

The moment of removing the chain was very emotional for everyone present, not only the rescuers were happy, the dog was the most excited of all, her relief was instantaneous and her joyful face was the best gift for her rescuers.

This beautiful puppy was named Fallon Marie.

The shelter workers weighed the chain and discovered that it weighed just over five kilos, which was too much of a burden for the puppy considering her build and size.

Fortunately, she is now a free and loved dog in good health. She is infinitely grateful for the second chance she has been given.

She is currently in a training process so that she can be the best indoor dog, it is only a matter of time before she will be put up for adoption. Hopefully she will find the loving family she needs so much.

There are many furry dogs that have been saved thanks to the incredible work of shelters, animal welfare centers, volunteers and all those people who decide to do small acts of love and change the world of the most vulnerable animals.
