A kitten who was sheltering under a car for protection urgently needed help, but veterinarians were considering euthanizing him as the only option. They gave him a bleak prognosis, but he wanted to live.

Fortunately, there are always those who have a heart full of immense love and are willing to help the most vulnerable animals, especially those who have been victims of abuse and neglect.

Angelito is a little kitten who was rescued after someone saw him abandoned under a car and after discovering that he had a disability, they suggested euthanizing him.

However, Tata Céspedes decided to bet on the life of this kitten by taking care of him and giving him all the love necessary for Angelito to overcome all obstacles and enjoy a second chance to live.

“Euthanasia never crossed my mind, I looked for all the ways, they told me that he was not going to live long, but I said that I was going to take care of him for as long as it was his turn to live”, added Tata.

“People are very afraid of adopting a pet with a disability,” said Tata.

Angelito was born with a congenital condition that affected his spine and as a consequence, his hind legs atrophied and became immobile.

Very few people believed that this little kitten could survive, and Tata was even advised by three veterinary centers to put him down.

But she refused to accept that the cat would have this sad outcome, she wanted to try everything because she knew that despite his condition he deserved the chance to continue living.

Tata did not give up, because she saw in the kitten’s eyes the will to live.

After so much searching, she found the help of a veterinarian who believed in this little kitten and committed to rehabilitate him. Finally, someone had hope just like her and that was just what she needed.

“Another vet gave me hope and told me, he has all his organs well, the only thing is that he can’t walk and he told me that if I had the will I could take him forward,” said Tata.

His food is expensive because it can affect his kidneys, so Tata buys him special food. She proves that there is no excuse for making a commitment to love an animal forever and unconditionally.

It is true that disabled animals have special needs, but with love everything can be accomplished. Everyone deserves to be loved and protected regardless of their condition.

She puts him in diapers and does massage therapy and, above all, gives him lots of affection.

She has already had three wheelchairs adapted to his growing body so that he can move freely.

With the chair he can move around on his own, he regained his freedom and feels comfortable walking and playing. Little by little he has learned to adapt to the mechanism that helps him improve his quality of life.

“Angelito is a completely normal cat, curious and restless. In his mind there is no disability, he climbs trees and everything with his little chair. He is a very healthy and happy cat,” Tata added.

For Tata euthanasia is the easiest option, but it is not the first, she says that you cannot sacrifice a living being that every day shows you that he wants to live and that he is very brave.

“Of course it requires a greater effort, but it is not impossible, it is a matter of coupling, besides it is much more what you are going to gain, they are daily teachings,” said Tata.

Tata calls on people not to be afraid to help animals with disabilities.

“My life changed completely for the better. If you find yourself in a situation like this, don’t look at the easy side and let’s give this second chance to these little animals who are so grateful,” Tata added.
