The intense cold typical of this time of the year and extreme weather conditions also have a considerable effect on animals. Without the necessary care, our dog can catch a cold and get sick in winter.
Although it may seem absurd to dress up doggies, in Ticul, Mexico, to protect them from the low temperatures, an adorable little dog named Polita was photographed wearing a typical outfit called hipil.

The huipil (Nahuatl: huipilli), also called hipil in the Yucatan peninsula, is a traditional blouse or dress of the indigenous and mestizo people of southern Mexico and Central America.
The photo of Polita wearing her hipil to protect her from the cold was soon trending in the networks.

And not everyone enjoys the cold, there are others who, with the arrival of winter, the truth is that they have a hard time.
And these are especially the homeless animals, who, in addition to having to deal with loneliness, must endure hunger, cold and rejection.
J Gamaliel Mendoza was the one who met Polita and shared in his account her adorable photo, whose image has gone viral on social networks and melted the hearts of users for its tenderness.
Several internet users want to copy the idea in their pets.

More than three thousand reactions to the image, which was shared 21 thousand times, show the sensation caused by Polita, standing there with her hippy, fighting the cold.
“So that she does not suffer the low temperatures, the little dog with her huipil in the streets of Ticul, it is worth sharing it and making it viral,” Mendoza wrote next to the image of the little animal.

Although it was unknown who was the person who sheltered Polita, as well as where she came from. What is certain is that no one remained indifferent to the photo. And it was just thanks to her fame that curiosity arose and finally they found her home and family.
“She looks so cute, she deserves to be adopted and find a real warm home,” commented a user assuming that the dog was abandoned.

Polita is a cheerful and mischievous mestizo puppy, who lives with her two siblings Mía and Beto next to her mom Atenea.
Her owner, Veronica Chi, came up with the idea of putting her pretty hippil to cover her from the “heladez” as they call cold days in that Mayan region. In fact, she has not one but several models.
Most of the breeds do not need to be warm, but if we have a small dog, it is advisable to wrap it up a little when we go for a walk outside and the temperatures are very extreme.
Below ten degrees it is advisable to put them a thin coat, but, below five degrees it is better to put them something that provides them with even more warmth.
However, it is necessary to emphasize that it is not advisable to coat puppies unnecessarily. If their body temperature rises too high, they run the risk of dying from heat stroke.
Fortunately, the traditional cotton hippil that Polita wears is a very versatile garment that keeps her cool in hot weather and keeps her warm on cold days.
Doesn’t she look beautiful with her colorful flower embroidery?

Although the whole story is really adorable, some have been saddened to see her with a chain. However, her family assured that this is how they keep her for safety when she rides her tricycle on the street, but then she runs free and happy at home.
Polita’s tender story, which links a whole tradition of magic and color of the Mayan people in the hipil she carries and the sweetness of her human mother, who takes care of her as her daughter, deserves to be imitated and applauded.
