In a small village in India, people are currently making pilgrimages from far and wide to see a 9-day-old goat suffering from the very rare disease cyclopia. The goat is born with only one eye, located right in the middle of the forehead. Its nose and mouth region also have a strange appearance, and it also only has one ear.
Local vets had predicted that the goat would die after a short time, but so far it lives on with its peculiar appearance.

According to the Zoo’s veterinarian Mads Frost Bertelsen, this is a fetal malformation, which is often accompanied by other disorders and major malformations in the brain. The malformation is caused by the fact that the brain does not divide into two halves as in normal fetuses.
“There are also people who have it. Both people and animals will in most cases die from it, because it does not come alone,’ he says.
