Nothing better than a dog to learn about solidarity and friendship. Dogs are characterized by loving their friends, they are capable of anything to help them when they are in need.
A dog is capable of giving unconditional help.

Dogs’ survival instinct allows them to identify if there is a risk for another dog or even for people. There are countless stories of animals demonstrating their nobility by risking their own lives to save others.
A mischievous golden retriever named Macy was missing and her human was worried sick.

Wrigley is a beautiful chocolate Labrador retriever, a rescue dog by nature. He became popular on social media because he participated in the rescue of Macy, the mischievous golden retriever who had been missing for a whole day from home.

Fred McClella, fire chief of Streator Animal Control publicized the case. Macy loves to walk in the park, one day she slipped and fell into a muddy drain just over five feet deep.
Her owner became distressed and informed the fire department. The personnel started the search, in these cases minutes count and there is no time to lose.
The Labrador retriever discovered where the dog was.

This is when the brave Wrigley came into action, the dog found the friend trapped inside the uncomfortable hole in Marilla Park. Not thinking twice, he ran out to alert the woolly dog’s father. Firefighters were notified, and arrived on the scene.

A video shows the firefighters in full rescue action. Conditions inside the hole were unstable due to mud and snow, and McClellan lost his footing several times trying to pull Macy out. He regained control of the situation and continued.

“If you can see me fall it was because the ground started to break up under my foot, so I crossed the hole to catch myself and then it collapsed again. Fortunately, my engineer, Tim Redd, was able to finish pulling the dog and get out safely,” McClellan said.

Even though the firefighter put a net around her to pull her out safely, she didn’t sit idly by, she was trying her best to get out on her own.
Finally the coordinated work paid off, and McClellan rescued the sweet canine.
She and her owner were muddy, but that didn’t stop them from hugging each other, happy to be together again.

Once out of the hole, they photographed the dog sitting calm and relaxed in the back seat of her human’s car.
The unpleasant moment was over, she wanted to go to rest. Her owner felt the same way and they left, a little muddy, but very happy to go home.

Everyone agreed that Wrigley made it possible for them to save Macy. The dog was also in danger, but was able to find her and alert her in time, allowing fire personnel to arrive directly on the scene and do their job.

“Congratulations to the Streator Fire Department and the dog that alerted that Macy was in the hole!” expressed Streator Animal Control staff.
Social media users sent kisses and hugs to Wrigley. And Streator Animal Control posted updates of Macy, who was seen laughing as if nothing had happened. She is at home enjoying the love and tender care of her loving family.
Heroes have 4 legs too

Following the incident with Macy, firefighters are issuing a cautionary call to the community to avoid going to Marilla Park until the entire area is safe.

Inside every dog is a brave hero, so always take care of them and shower them with love.
