The latest Gripen E fighter aircraft manufactured by Saab, Sweden has successfully fired with a Meteor BVRAAM (Visible Air-to-Air Missile). Saab said the missile successfully hit the target.
It said the Meteor rocket was launched from Gripen E at an altitude of about 16,500 feet above the Vidsel training ground in northern Sweden. Head of Flight Inspection & Verification, Saab Mikael Olsson said, “This is a very important milestone for the Gripen E and Saab program.

Saab says MBDA’s Meteor is an unrivaled BVRAAM that can operate in the most contested environments. This missile can hit a variety of targets, from fighter aircraft, UAVs to cruise missiles at unprecedented ranges.
“This success is a great testament to the close partnership between MBDA and Saab, which after years of active cooperation has continued to grow from strength to strength. This test also demonstrates our collective ability to quickly integrate our capabilities into the all-new Gripen E,” said Jim Price, MBDA Europe Vice President.
The focus of the test flight program for the Gripen E was further development and testing, especially the tactical systems and the integration of various weᴀponѕs, such as Meteor. The Meteor program is one of the most successful defense cooperation in Europe.

Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Sweden have teamed up to create this game-changing missile for air combat, Saab wrote in an August 30, 2022 press release.
