For a dog who has spent her life enjoying all the attention and love of her adoptive parents as their only canine child, it’s not always easy to accept a new furry addition to the family.

This is the case of Mabel, a three year old furry little dog who has lived happily as an only dog. Her parents eagerly decided to give her a canine sibling, but Mabel did not receive the surprise with great pleasure.

Puppy fakes injury to share care with her injured brother.

It was difficult for her to share all the attention her parents were giving her with the new arrival, a goldendoodle named Milo.

Carrie Bartsh, the furry puppies’ mother, tries to give the same amount of love and attention to each one separately so that neither one gets jealous, but that’s not always the case. On this Bartsh commented:

“They both get super jealous if the other gets too much attention.

I try to keep everything even and fair with them, so when I trim Milo’s eyebrows for grooming, I make sure to trim Mabel’s eyebrows too.

Mabel even gets jealous of the cat. He needed some ear drops, and she would sit there and wait for her drops, too.”

While these furry little guys may have some bouts of jealousy from begging for attention, they enjoy spending time together. They play, they run, but most of all, they love each other unconditionally.

“Mabel and Milo wrestle like puppies, growl and bite. Milo runs at 100 meters per hour and crashes into Mabel and flips her over. Even though he’s bigger and faster, Mabel is the one in charge. She keeps Milo on the sidelines.”

Unfortunately, in one of these games, Milo had an accident and was immobilized in one of his paws. Given this situation, it was inevitable that he would receive more attention, but Mabel wasn’t about to be left behind.

“We headed back to the house, and the dogs were doing their typical wrestling while running, and when they stopped I saw some blood in the snow.

I realized it was Milo. Soon after I noticed that he was limping on one of his paws.”

When Bartsh checked the little dog in detail, he noticed that he had a cut on his paw, which caused him great pain when he pressed it on the ground, so he walked with a limp.

Without wasting any more time, Bartsh rushed to heal it, by then, Mabel didn’t seem too worried about her sister’s situation, but it didn’t take long to notice that she was getting more attention, so she decided to do something about it.

“When I called Milo to change her bandage and Mabel saw all the supplies, she immediately came over and plopped down right in front of me, lying on her side, ready for me to fix her.

I finally got her to move, and once I fixed everything with Milo he went on his way, but Mabel came back and laid down as if it was her turn.”

Evidently, the little dog was begging for attention and her best way was to fake an injury to get the same care from her brother.

“I tore the empty gauze wrapper so she would think I was putting a gauze pad on her and pretended to put one on her, and then I wrapped her paw with a little bandage and gave her kisses on her head and told her she was ready.

She seemed quite satisfied, got up and went on her way.”

Fortunately, Milo is doing much better, however, Bartsh continues to perform the cures on the two little dogs, only then the spoiled and jealous Mabel won’t feel that her little brother is getting more attention.

Bartsh comments that for her this whole situation is very funny, in this regard she commented:

“I had to laugh at myself and the situation – who puts fake bandages on their jealous dog?”

Well they say that if you want to give something valuable, give attention and this little dog knows very well how to get it. Her true happiness is in being loved and feeling super spoiled.
