Salem the kitty was her owner Haylee’s main emotional support during the most difficult times, so when it was time for her graduation, everyone knew that the sweet kitty had to receive her own diploma.

Haylee knew she would not have been able to achieve her goals without the help of her kitty.

A few years ago, a woman named Hailee Weader found a kitten on the street. The poor thing was just a few weeks old but was in such poor health that seeing him alive was a true miracle.

Hailee took him to the vet and there they found out how serious the matter was. The kitten was very weak and had two of his paws broken. It was not a simple case but Hailee dedicated herself to caring for him 24 hours a day to help him.

Her efforts paid off and the beautiful kitty made a full recovery. Hailee had already formed a very special connection with him and decided to adopt him.

Hailee met the kitten during one of the most stressful times of her life. She was in her final year of nursing school. Still, Haylee managed to find the time to care for the kitten.

“I have to wake up early every day to feed him. If I don’t, he sits on my head and starts pulling my hair until I get up and give him his food,” Hailee said.

She named him Salem and just a few months after getting him she realized that it was really the kitten that had come to save her.

Hailee suffers from anxiety problems and panic attacks. However, whenever she’s feeling a little under the weather, Salem comes to her lap and helps her feel better.

“If it’s been a bad day or I’m having a panic attack, he’ll come sit on me or nuzzle me and start massaging my legs and purring,” Hailee explained.

Since then, Salem has become the center of the family. He loves to follow his humans everywhere and when he doesn’t get the attention he so richly deserves, he doesn’t hesitate to make his claims heard by throwing a little plant.

“If we don’t pay attention to him, Salem starts walking around the house meowing. And if that doesn’t work to get our attention, he knocks over the plant closest to him,” said Hailee.

Her favorite activity is to accompany Hailee anywhere in her little kitty car and that’s how he accompanied her throughout her college career.

“She was like a little celebrity on campus. People would stop to talk to him or pet him for a while,” Hailee said.

When it came time for Hailee’s graduation, the dedicated cat mom realized she should be grateful for all the love Salem had given her.

Because of the distancing measures, the graduation consisted of a very simple ceremony. Hailee attended with her loyal kitty and Salem wore her little gown.

He had been her emotional support all these years and played a very important role in his owner’s career. Pictures of the beautiful kitty at the graduation soon went viral.

“Everyone loved her outfit. We were able to enjoy our ceremony and celebrate,” Hailee said.

Many people know about therapy puppies but Salem has come along to prove that kitties know how to provide support and love, too.In some way or another, the furry ones always manage to make our lives better.

Both dogs and cats have the wonderful ability to make us feel loved, peaceful and secure. We just have to give them a chance.
