In 1982, on New Year’s Eve, residents of Kent Cliffs in New York were bewildered by the appearance of an unusual aircraft in the sky. The V-shaped craft, as large as a commercial jet, moved slowly and silently, sparking a wave of UFO sightings that lasted for three years in the surrounding area known as the Hudson Valley. Thousands of people, including doctors, scientists, and meteorologists, witnessed the strange triangular-shaped, boomerang-lit object flying low over the community. The sightings were so convincing that people called home, thinking an invasion was underway. Over the years, officials received over 9,000 reports of the same V-shaped craft.
The Center for UFO Studies, founded by Jay Alan Heineck, investigated the area on behalf of author Philip Imbronio. He conducted hundreds of interviews with residents and witnessed the V-shaped craft himself. Mysterious reports were not only limited to strange crafts in the sky, but also bizarre sounds coming from deep below ground. Researchers speculated that these hot spots were entrances to vast underground cabins or secret bases. The famous sighting in the Hudson Valley Hot Spot concerned beings from underground, as was the case with Whitley Strieber’s experience, documented in his book Communion.
