Luke is an adorable little dog who had quite a heartbreaking time after being stood up on the day of his adoption party. The puppy arrived at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

Apparently, it doesn’t take even a month for the furry dogs that pass through this facility to be adopted, however, Luke was not so lucky. So the shelter’s volunteers decided to throw him a party on February 14.

Luke spent more than 200 days waiting to be adopted.

The main goal was for this adorable ball of fur to have the opportunity to meet potential adopters and have a fun day, on what is supposed to be a special date for everyone.

After spending just over 200 days at the shelter, they threw him a party to cheer him up, but unfortunately, nothing went as they had hoped.

“Valentine’s Day is a time to show your appreciation for those you care about, so it’s heartbreaking to know that Luke spent the day with no one to love,” said a spokesperson for the shelter.

The shelter aspired to find him a loving home with a calm and responsible family, as he has some skin problems and needs frequent trips to the vet.

For a long time, this adorable ball of fur was waiting to conquer the right family, after a long wait, finally, he found his ideal home.

Luke just wanted a new chance to love and be loved.

Luke is a loving puppy, he is five years old, although he spent a long time at Battersea Brans Hatch shelter, in Kent, England, he finally found his favorite place with wonderful people.

Via an update the shelter commented:

“Remember Luke, our Battersea resident who got stood up on Valentine’s Day? Well, we have good news. He’s finally found his home. After 225 days, Luke has found the perfect home where his needs will be taken care of. We hope you have a wonderful time, Luke.”

Karl and Jill Kendrick from Derbyshire became Luke’s new foster parents. Prior to his adoption, the couple showed great interest in the furry boy, had offered to be foster parents and sent him gifts to the shelter.

After a selection process, they were chosen as the new parents of this beautiful ball of fur.

“How Luke stayed in Battersea’s care for so long is a mystery to me. Any new owner would have been lucky to rehome him. Since we brought him home, he has proven to be the perfect dog and has really settled in so quickly. We love him so much already and wouldn’t trade him for anything in the world,” said Karl.

Luke found the perfect home, although he is a very shy little dog once he feels confident he comes out of his shell and unleashes his fun. Michelle Bevan, shelter manager commented:

“Despite being a big dog, Luke really is a big softy and enjoys nothing more than cuddling up next to his favorite people and a stuffed animal.”

Luke didn’t have the best ending to his Valentine’s Day party, but it was worth the wait. Today he enjoys a happy life alongside little people who make a point of showing him how special he is in their lives.

After all, this great guy has all the love he deserves. The bitter moment he lived is in the past, now he has a life full of color and good love.

All dogs deserve to be accepted, loved and respected. Repairing the pain they had in the past only depends on us. Adopt and transform a life.
