You may have heard on more than one occasion that the relationship between a puppy and cats is not always so favorable. However, not all canines and felines are as different as they seem.

Some act so similar to their opposites that their actions leave us questioning their nature and accepting them as they really are. Case in point is Mako, an adorable little dog so different that he acts like a cat.

Mako is a very special puppy-cat.

Mako came into the home of Bethany Castiller and her family when they decided to adopt a puppy from a local rescue in South Carolina.

The family knew from the first meeting that this was a very special puppy.

From the first moment they saw him, the furry little guy made it clear that he wanted to go home with them. Castiller comments on this:

“We joke that we didn’t really choose him, he chose us. When we went to the shelter, he had his back against the cage, so we started petting him and he looked over his shoulder right into our eyes, we immediately fell in love with the little guy.”

The family was looking for a puppy that would get along with the kittens they have at home, Pecan and Gizmo. The shelter staff assured them that Mako was the one since he got along so well with the felines.

Without further hesitation, they decided to adopt him and quickly realized that Mako did not act like a regular dog, in fact his behavior is more cat-like.

Mako imitates his two feline siblings in every way.

While they don’t know the puppy’s past, his new family thinks he was raised with cats because of his unusual and atypical behavior.

It turns out that this beautiful puppy loves to engage in classic cat activities. He even eats cat treats, and loves to sit on tables and counters just like his brothers Pecan and Gizmo.

Mako doesn’t bark, he follows in all the behavior of his cat brothers.

As curious as it may seem, this puppy is far from behaving like a regular puppy.

The family stresses that the first time they saw him on the counters he seemed a bit strange to them, but after a while they accepted him and understood that they had basically adopted another kitten instead of a dog. Castiller says:

“He likes to lie on the tables with my cats and look out the window at the birds with them – when he sees one of my cats lying on his back for a belly rub, he comes over and does the same!”

Mako seems to have been waiting for the right family, not only does he have the unconditional love of people who look out for his well-being, but also some cat siblings with whom he enjoys going out to play whenever he can.

At first glance, this furry trio is very different, but they love being close and spending the day together.

Of all the things they do their favorite is to be on top of some table or cupboard. Something that is very funny to the family who can’t stop laughing every time they see them on top of something.

“Whenever Mako sees his siblings on the counters or cabinets, he climbs up to join them. He really just wants to be near the cats all the time. If he’s not in the room with one of the humans, he’s with the cats.”

This beautiful little dog is by far a very different and lucky canine. His interest in sharing and being like a cat makes him a very special furry little guy. His family couldn’t be happier to have him home.
