The Curious and Wondrous Tattoos of Alberto Moreno
A gun-toting chimpanzee, a tiger with a bandana on its head, a panda bear wearing a monocle and bowler hat and smoking a pipe, and a dog sporting boxing gloves. This isn’t some kind of twisted zoo exhibit—these are the tattoos that adorn the body of Spanish soccer star, Alberto Moreno.

The Liverpool full-back is apparently a fan of one-of-a-kind tattoos, and while the themes he chooses for his ink are beyond odd, they’ve been called everything from “perplexing” to downright “bizarre.” However, the tattoos themselves are done with an incredible attention to detail.

It all started when Moreno shared a photo of his fresh ink last April, posting to his Instagram account a tattoo on his thigh of a chimpanzee wearing a suit and mirrored sunglasses, listening to tunes through headphones and holding a pistol up to his lips. The Spanish national team star’s monkey tattoo was done by an artist named Franco from La Rose Negra tattoo shop in Madrid, Spain, and appears to be a unique visual representation of the well-known proverb, “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil,” which is often associated with being of good mind, speech and action.

Moreno is a huge fan of tattoos, and has dozens of pieces to his name, including his monkey tattoo, which is now accompanied by three new animal-themed pieces: a tiger wearing a bandana, a panda bear with a monocle, bowler hat and pipe, and a portrait of his bull terrier, Ali, with boxing gloves on his front paws. All of the new tats were also done at La Rosa Negra tattoo shop’s Franco, in the same black and grey design as Moreno’s older chimpanzee tattoo.

Moreno posted a collage of his new tiger, panda bear and dog tattoos on Instagram earlier this month, captioning the image, “Thanks @franco_tattoo [for coming] to Liverpool again. It’s always a pleasure to be in your hands. @larosenegra_sevilla.”
