The video of an “exotic” creature went viral on Twitter and left netizens intrigued. In the recording, a hairy being with a human face and claws like a sloth appears leaning against a wall. Users were curious about the work and some joked about the appearance, with comparisons to the character Peter Pettigrew from Harry Potter.

The alleged creature is actually a soft sponge sculpture, made by Iranian artist Monir Molavyzadeh. In 2022, the exhibition Strange aeons – we will meet you there , in Paris, capital of France, received the work and a user posted an image on Twitter. “I found this thing in Saint Germain des Près, can you enlighten me on its nature please”, the video reached the artist who explained. “I made the sculpture with a soft sponge,” Molavyzadeh wrote on Instagram. “Inside the body there is a mechanism and the breathing movement is done robotically.”
Molavyzadeh, also known as Peyback, shares images of the creation stages and the raw material he uses to create works like the one seen in the video on his Instagram profile.
