For a veterinarian, gaining the trust of their furry friends is more than a goal, it is a priority.
Unfortunately, many rescued dogs arrive at shelters or medical centers very shy and uninterested in sharing with their rescuers.
This is the result of a life full of pain and misery, often caused by beings without empathy who gave them deplorable treatment.
A veterinarian makes a great effort to gain the trust of a frightened puppy.

Faced with these scenarios, the patience and infinite love for the furry ones comes out and a long work begins on the part of their rescuers to gain their trust, and make them come out little by little from the shell in which they are.

This is the story of a little dog that after his rescue was transferred to the clinical center, where Doctor Thomas Hamilton did an incredible job to make him understand that he was in a safe place and in good hands.
Hamilton is not your average veterinarian, for him animals are his best friends, since he was just a child he knew he wanted to be a veterinarian and improve the quality of life of the most vulnerable.
Since he was just a child, his love for animals was born.

It all started when he was about 7 or 8 masters, his family had a Siberian husky, named Bandy, Hamilton from the first moment created a great bond with the new member of the family until they became inseparable.
By then, there was an incident while playing in the backyard, a big black dog approached him and almost bit him.
That’s when Bandy showed up, despite being chained to his kennel, he managed to break free and shoo the other dog away.
“Bandy broke the chain, jumped on me and tackled the other dog as he was approaching, repelled him and they escaped,” Dr. Hamilton said.

From that moment he realized how important pets are in our lives, his bond with his big furry friend grew stronger. He quickly realized that Bandy was much more than his playmate, he truly loved him.
That small act motivated him to become much more attached to animals and to train professionally to be able to help them. He studied to be a veterinarian and now has countless furry friends.

With all of them he has made small gestures of love that undoubtedly end up transforming their lives.
Over time, he has become a master at building bonds of trust with the rescued animals, who in the midst of their bewilderment arrive with a lost look in their eyes.

Recently, a video was released showing the veterinarian slowly approaching a very frightened puppy. The video captivated the world’s Internet users so much that it didn’t take long for it to accumulate more than 9 million reactions.
In the clip, Hamilton can be seen interacting with his new patient, an adorable little dog who was refusing to socialize and leave one of the corners of the office.

Gradually, the vet approaches the furry pooch as he talks softly to him in very positive sentences, emphasizes how much he loves his leash and sits down next to him. He even lies down on the floor so that his head is under the dog.
“I felt comfortable enough to lie on my back and offer my face for the dog to explore. It’s kind of a submission signal to a submissive dog,” he said of Dr. Hamilton.

While the veterinarian commented that the easiest thing to do would have been to take the dog and put him on the bed to perform the check-up, this would have been traumatizing, so he opted to gain the dog’s trust.
In the video you can see how the dog gradually loosens up to the veterinarian’s charms. He finally felt confident that this time he was in the hands of someone who would look after his well-being.
For Hamilton, the most important thing is to convey to his patients that they have nothing to fear and he has nothing but love to give them. He deeply believes that when you show love and compassion to animals, you can change the way they see you.
Without a doubt, love can transform even the hardest heart. Let’s remember that for a vulnerable furry everything adds up, everything counts, everything counts.
