John Cena stepped out with his wife Shay Shariatzadeh for a rare public appearance together at The Iron Claw premiere.
The WWE legend was seen beaming and kissing his partner – who he married in October 2020 – as they stepped out for the Los Angeles screening of Zac Efron’s new wrestling blockbuster.
Cena, 46, sported a baby blue pinstripe suit with a smart checkered tie for the occasion, while Shay, 34, went for a flattering black dress with a thigh high split.
She completed her look with stunning silver earrings and necklace, while her silver and black purse matched her heels.
The loved up couple posed for photos on the red carpet, with Cena’s arm around her waist as they smiled for the cameras.
In an adorable moment, Shay laughed and smiled as her man – who recently underwent surgery on both arms – pulled her close and planted a kiss on her cheek in a sweet moment of PDA.
Cena also made sure to do the rounds at the premiere, and he was seen speaking to Efron and Kevin Von Erich, who he plays in A24’s new biopic.
‘This movie’s a true story, and that man, Kevin Von Erich right there, he really motivated me to get in shape for this movie,’ he recently told Entertainment Tonight of his efforts for the part. ‘It was shocking at every point of the transformation.’
He could even have been getting tips from the 16-time world champion after teasing the idea of stepping in the ring for real after learning to wrestle for the movie.
Big name wrestlers were also out for the premiere, and Cena posed for an unlikely photo with All Elite Wrestling star Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF), who appears in the movie as well as having an executive producer credit.
The grappler shared a snap of the pair on X (formerly Twitter) account, and fans were amazed to see them come together considering MJF is the current world champion for WWE’s closest rivals.
‘This is a surreal visual,’ wrote fan @4RomeoAnthony, while @LuleRobboWWEAEW added: ‘2023 has been the wildest year for wrestling.’
Representing WWE, Liv Morgan stunned at the event in a tasselled purple ensemble with a cutout exposing her midriff.
Fans will be glad to see the star is good spirits, as she’s currently out of action after suffering an injury just weeks into a return from another setback.
Meanwhile, former United States Champion Baron Corbin also joined in the fun in LA, sporting a sharp white dress shirt with a couple of buttons undone, and bringing it all together with a tartan suit.
Based on a true story, the Iron Claw follows the story of the wrestling dynasty, the Von Erich family, led by father and coach (Holt McCallany) and his sons Kevin (Zac), David (Harris), Kerry (Jeremy) and Mike (Standley Simons).
The family famously battled highs and lows in the most extreme ways as Kevin’s brothers tragically died – sparking the concept of the ‘Von Erich curse’.
The official synopsis reads: ‘The true story of the inseparable Von Erich brothers, who made history in the intensely competitive world of professional wrestling in the early 1980s.’
