A faithful little dog can never understand why his owner, whom he has loved so much in this life, has reached the time to leave, without anyone being able to help him to alleviate such pain.
Dogs are the most loyal and unconditional creatures in our difficult moments. They will know how to be by our side; in joy and pain; in sickness and when everyone turns their back on us; in every important stage of our life; but also when death comes inexorably to take us away from those furry creatures to whom we owe so much.
That was the drama that a loving puppy had to face the hard departure of his owner.
When a grandmother named Maria Isabel Benites Chamba, 95, passed away, her family and friends were on hand to pay their respects at the funeral and pray for her eternal rest.
But everyone, including the staff of the Santa Rosa Funeral Home in Ecuador, who organized the wake, were totally bewildered and deeply moved by the presence of one particular attendee who went above and beyond.
It was Doña Maria Isabel’s beloved pet of all her life, her little dog Bumer.
Apparently, the little dog seemed to have realized perfectly well what was happening. And he was devastated to have to accept that he would not be able to hug his mother again.
So, in an incredible gesture of sensitivity, empathy and grief, he refused to part for a single second from the coffin carrying his favorite human… Until the very end!
Just as he had done while he lived by her side, Bumer resisted leaving her alone. It was his way of showing how much he loved her; and at the same time, his way of consoling himself alone in his hard-to-bear loss.
The funeral home was so shocked by the faithful dog’s gesture that they recorded the entire moment, and even gave statements to the local media.
“You could see the loyalty and affection that existed between her and her dog. She was always there with her owner,” said a spokesperson for the funeral home.
After the ceremony, a procession formed to escort the casket to the cemetery. And of course Bumer would take advantage of every last possible second to show his love, so he insisted on coming too.
The scenes are heartwarming, especially Bumer’s sad face:
“He circled the hearse before climbing aboard as if to say, ‘I want to go say goodbye to my mom.’ A tremendous example of loyalty,” added the spokesman.
Clearly, Bumer could be seen totally heartbroken, but in that moment, he wanted everyone to see his immense love for his mother, giving the best lesson to the whole world.
Certainly the woman passed away, but Bumer’s faithfulness lives on. Hopefully, in time, his broken heart will begin to heal. The good thing is that he has the family of the woman who has taken care of the dog and he won’t be alone.
According to the funeral home staff, Bumer was seen in the company of the deceased grandmother’s family. They are united by his memory and the great love he had for her. That is why, fortunately for the little dog, he will not lack the love he needs so much.

A story that cannot leave anyone indifferent. Doggies are definitely angels sent from heaven to help us be better. Can anyone dare to say that they have no feelings?
