The loyalty of some animals has no limits and that of the little dog in this story is one of those that goes to infinity and beyond. His name is Mandraque, a furry dog who lives in Mineiros, Brazil and is never willing to leave his owner’s side, not even if it is a medical emergency.

That’s why the little dog ended up chasing the ambulance in which the man was transported.

This month, Dr. Igor Paiva Dias and his medical team witnessed something like no other when Mandraque showed up at a hospital emergency to accompany his owner.

The little dog looked distressed and walked a distance of 8 km (5 miles) so as not to leave his human alone.

Apparently the man, whose identity was not revealed by the doctor, felt ill and went to the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) Dr. Francisco Filgueiras Júnior, but he was not alone because his dog accompanied him.

The matter was unusual, but it became even stranger when the dog began to chase the ambulance.

At that moment, a man passing by the place did not miss the opportunity to record the situation that hours later was shared by Paiva on his social networks.

In his years of career, this is the first time he has witnessed something of this nature.

The doctor knew the little dog perfectly well, as well as the owner who is a regular patient at the unit.

“The patient is a wheelchair user and goes many times to the PACU because he has ulcers from sitting and lying down for a long time.

If there is an example of truer love, I don’t know, he might be close to his friend,” said the physician.

Moved by the situation, the doctor even called Mandraque and invited him to get into the ambulance. He was sorry to see the little dog’s effort to reach the unit and thought it would be all right.

“We were going to sterilize the ambulance later, but he still didn’t get in and decided to walk, so they told the driver to go at low speed so the dog could follow us,” said Igor Paiva.

Once at the health center, the dog was allowed to approach his owner, but he had to stay out of the room due to local policies. Had it been for the doctor he would have been allowed to enter, but before him there are other authorities.

“The moment the dog saw his owner on the stretcher, he immediately jumped up and started licking and kissing him,” said Días.

The good thing is that Mandraque managed to accompany his owner in some way, as he did not separate from the entrance of the center until the man was not medically discharged.

Fortunately, it was a minor emergency and his stay at the facility was brief.

However, once again Mandraque’s fidelity was demonstrated. The little dog waited for him until the end and then they returned home together.

“The patient was discharged and his faithful companion accompanied him back home,” the doctor concluded.

As expected, the story caused a lot of emotion among readers, as more than one praised the animal’s faithfulness, and also rejoiced at having their own Mandrake at home.

The same doctors who witnessed the scene were moved by the situation never seen before on the part of a pet like Mandraque.

Without a doubt, dogs are incredibly loyal and intelligent animals and just like this German Shepherd many do whatever it takes to stay loyal and take care of the people they consider their family.
