An adorable Chihuahua puppy is considered the oldest dog in a shelter, his name is Bully, a furry little dog who reached a milestone in the history of his breed when he turned 23 years old, a number well above his species.
To honor all his years of life, his caregivers decided to do something special for him and not let his birthday go unnoticed.
Oldest dog in the shelter happily celebrates his 23rd birthday.

Since he was born in 1999, this adorable ball of fur belonged to an elderly gentleman who took care of him throughout his life, he lasted 21 springs by his grandfather’s side.
However, his physical energy was diminishing and he could no longer give him all the care he needed.

Since then, he has been spending his life in a shelter. Fortunately, some members of The Mr. Mo Project heard about his story and decided to take him in.
Chris Hughes and his wife, who run the shelter, have become his main caregivers for the past couple of years.
Thanks to Bully’s birthday the couple managed to raise some funds for the shelter.

To his former family, Bully is a little dog with incomparable energy, described as a “big dog in a small dog’s body”. His current caregiver, Hughes commented on this:
“Bully is feisty, mischievous, sweet, independent, gentle, calm and has an old man’s bark. Even at his age, he likes to try to push other of our Chihuahuas around.”

After spending a long time playing and channeling his energy with the rest of the furries, Bully seems to demand his nap times.
“Bully loves to sleep and has earned that right. He will fall asleep absolutely anywhere, sometimes in the middle of the baking floor, in a potty or on the biggest, comfiest bed in the corner,” commented his caregiver.

This is how this adorable little dog spends his days, and from the very first moment he won over his caregivers. To celebrate his active spirit, the couple decided to surprise him and celebrate his birthday with the things he loves the most.
On the day of the celebration there were not only snacks for the birthday boy, the party was decorated in a special way, what stood out the most was the number 23 in giant balloons. Undoubtedly, the moment had to be captured with beautiful photos that will become the favorites of those who today take care of him so lovingly.
It is not common to see a puppy reach such an advanced age.

Chris Hughes and his wife took into account every last detail so that Bully could enjoy his day, as this beautiful Chihuahua has almost no teeth, the family decided to buy him some soft cookies.
“He doesn’t have too many teeth, so we got him a soft cookie and crumbled it up for him to enjoy. He really enjoys sleeping, so that’s the best treat to give him,” Hughes added.

While it may not seem like much to some, it’s a great gesture on the part of the couple who go out of their way to keep the puppies they foster comfortable and happy. For them, it’s vital that love and joy reign in the home, even more so after learning about the difficult pasts of many of the puppies they rescue.
They try to celebrate those little details that are a comfort to the soul. In this regard they commented:
“We try to celebrate all the great things that happen in our home because very often not so great things happen.”

Bully suffers from a heart disease, his caregivers do not know how long he has left to live, for them it was important to celebrate that despite his years and his diagnosis he is still with them enjoying this present.
This little dog happily celebrated his birthday thanks to little people who are dedicated to making his life much better. Infinite thanks to the Hughes family for being instruments of love and showing with their actions all the beauty that dwells in their hearts.
