Every scene of a mother dog nursing her babies is the most touching thing there is.
But, what could be sweet and adorable, is also the most inhumane and full of evil, when that parturient has to struggle to feed her little ones, subject to a chain, deprived of the minimum dignity, because of humans.
Those of us who love animals know all the tenderness and fidelity they are capable of giving. That is why we cannot understand that people without a soul and without scruples commit barbarities against these innocent creatures. And just when we think we have seen it all, a new case of unjust treatment of animals shakes our hearts.
This is the sad scene that a passerby came across: a 2 year old female dog, just given birth, abandoned and tied to a fence with her 6 puppies.
With her head hanging from the chain and the 6 little ones feeding on her body, she could not survive for much longer, time was running out…..

The desperate mother could be seen looking for something to eat as she remained tied up in a field near the village of Elphin, in County Roscommon, Ireland.
The man did not hesitate to alert the police and the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA). Immediately, both the mother and her puppies were taken to the ISPCA National Animal Center in Longford so that they could be evaluated.
It takes a heart of stone to do something like that, they are unforgivable!

Fortunately, the vets found that they had no serious health problems. But it is not known how long the puppies and mother remained in such pitiful circumstances, and it is heartbreaking.
The puppies had not even opened their eyes, they were shivering from the cold.

“Leaving a young two-year-old puppy tied up without water, food or shelter definitely puts her and her puppies at risk. We urge pet owners to spay or neuter their pets as soon as possible to reduce the large number of unwanted animals. I don’t understand how anyone could think it’s okay to leave a dog tied to a fence to take care of her puppies on her own. With the recent level of rain and cold weather this week, the outcome could have been very different and I’m glad they alerted us so we could help them,” stated Hugh O’Toole, ISPCA center manager.
“Having a microchip is a legal requirement but the puppy didn’t have one. Our centers are constantly full to capacity and with very limited resources, it can take time to find good, responsible homes for the many animals in our care,” he added.
Fortunately, the puppy was rescued from that undignified life along with her babies.

The dog and her little ones remain in the care of the shelter, their images were disseminated on social networks and since then a wave of anger and indignation has been raised, it is truly something that can not be understood.
The mother was named Emmy Lou, while her puppies were named Billy Ray, Dixie, Dolly, Dotty, June and Patsy.

Fortunately, they are out of danger and will remain in the care of the ISPCA, where they will be found a forever home.
Authorities urge that these types of cases be reported immediately, if you would like to make a donation to support the work of these heroes, here.
We invite you to raise your voice and raise awareness that animals feel and suffer like any other living being, enough of such undignified treatment of animals!
