The fate of a neglected and hairless puppy can be very uncertain indeed. There are many people who look at physical appearance, even in animals, and look down on them, not even offering them the opportunity to be touched and transformed by love.

Life for many furries is full of challenges. Unfortunately, not all are fortunate enough to grow up in a home that cares for their well-being. In the midst of their desperation, some manage to escape the unfair treatment and cruelty that terrorizes them, but many are left alone and helpless trying to survive on the streets.

Elliot is one of those dogs, for a long time he wandered from one place to another, his health condition was critical, he used to take shelter under cars, but one day everything changed for him.

The little dog shivering and without any hair was rescued in Tijuana, Mexico.

Karla Solis was the woman who decided to give him all the help he needed. The little dog was bald, hungry and trembling with fear. It was evident that he did not like contact with people, understandably, his past had marked him.

Solis, however, was not about to give up, and after several attempts she managed to gain his trust and make eye contact with the puppy. After several minutes, Eliot gave in to the arms of his rescuer.

His skin was badly swollen and cracked.

His condition was truly pitiful; at first glance, it was obvious that he had multiple skin infections. Solís decided to take him to a veterinarian where he was diagnosed with severe mange and Ehrlichia, a tick-borne disease.

In addition, his bones were very noticeable, due to the severe state of malnutrition he was in. His delicate condition urgently required a foster home with people who would care for him and comply with his treatment to the letter.

Eliot is about five years old.

That’s when Solis contacted Becky Moder, an activist who transports vulnerable animals from Mexico to shelters in the United States. Eliot’s treatment was quite expensive, so Becky had to use some of her savings to pay for medical fees.

Fortunately, the little dog slowly healed and was sent to the United States where he began the adoption process. Finally, he would become part of a family that would give him all the love and responsible care he had deserved for so long.

In the United States he would complete his treatment and become part of a family.

It didn’t take long for sweet Eliot to conquer the heart of a couple who were looking for an older, quiet and very sweet puppy. Kim Forest and her boyfriend spotted him at The Barking Lot Rescue, an animal rescue in El Cajon, California.

Eliot was the perfect puppy for them. Gone was that shy little dog who trembled in fear, embarrassed by his unkempt appearance under a car.

Now he’s a beloved furry little guy who enjoys being the darling of the house.

This beautiful furball is completely healthy and strong.

Everyone who sees the pictures of Eliot’s transformation even judges that they have been fooled into thinking they are pictures of another dog. But both the shelter and his new family assure that it is the same dog, only changed thanks to love. It’s amazing!

His new parents decided to change his name, now he is called Asher, he spends his days playing with his little feline brother who has become his best friend and accomplice of mischief. We are happy to know that this beautiful puppy, now fluffy and loving, has the happy ending he deserves.

Canine abandonment is a latent reality in our society, together we can help and transform the lives of the most vulnerable. Let’s be the heroes they need and let’s infect everyone with the spirit of fight and love for the most vulnerable.
